The Security Industry Authority, the regulatory body of the private security industry and part of the Home Office, require a Senior Manager - Compliance & Inspections to join them on a permanent basis. Job Purpose



The primary purpose of this role is to support the Head of Compliance & Inspections in leading and managing an effective and efficient compliance, supervision and enforcement function, including the direct line management of regionally based teams of remote workers. The postholder will also support the Director for Inspection & Enforcement through coordination of ongoing projects, directorate strategic updates and discrete pieces of work. The postholder will also be responsible for leading on and developing operational partnerships with external agencies including taking ownership of the operational and tactical elements of joint working programmes for example with HMRC.



Responsibilities




  • To line manage, develop and motivate a team of home-based regional investigations managers and through them provide leadership to the regional inspection and compliance teams.

  • To regularly coordinate and participate in regional and national inspection activities and when necessary to work unsociable hours to meet this responsibility.

  • To coordinate proactive, visible and risk based 'inspection' activity in support of the Compliance, Supervision and Enforcement Strategy and Tactical plan through the tasking process and ongoing oversight.

  • To provide executive support to the Director of Inspection & Enforcement for ongoing project coordination, strategic executive support and discrete pieces of work.

  • To undertake sensitive or discreet high threat case work with national enforcement partners.

  • To identify and develop opportunities for formalised operational partnerships with external agencies, including law enforcement bodies to maximise the SIAs contribution to the wider disruption of criminality.

  • To manage the operational elements of the existing programme of joint working with HMRC to include the design and implementation of a mutually agreed tasking and coordinating process to ensure efficient and effective use of joint resources.

  • To develop and implement a national model of supervision of the private security industry based on the assessment of threat, risk and harm.

  • To develop and maintain a suite of performance indicators intended to measure the impact of the model of supervision.

  • To assist the Head of Compliance & Inspections in the development of the annual business plan and associated performance framework.

  • To act as tactical lead on at least one of the SIA's Strategic Threats, and ensure the development, coordination and delivery of a response strategy.

  • Deploy compliance and inspection teams to undertake risk led work to support regulatory compliance including tackling deliberate and serious non-compliance with Private Security Industry Act 2001.

  • Development of productive enforcement partnerships with key agencies to support our regulatory objectives.

  • Ensure effective cross-functional working between regional teams and other parts of the SIA.

  • Develop Regional Investigation Managers and their teams to successfully conduct inspections, interventions, enquiries and, on occasion, investigations to obtain appropriate standards of evidence to support and inform SIA actions, decisions and sanctions.

  • Ensure policies, processes and procedures for the team are developed, maintained and adhered to.

This role is subject to security vetting to SC level.
