An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Operations Manager on behalf of a public sector organisation based in East London.


The role will support the Head of Operations in the development and implementation of strategies and policies that deliver and maintain exemplary services borough wide.


The successful applicant will have previous waste/cleansing operational management experience within local government.


The role will be responsible for the delivery of services comprising:



  • Recycling and Waste collections

  • Green Garden Waste operations

  • Trade Waste collection service

  • Bulky waste collections


Key duties will include:



  • To be responsible for coordinating and planning the day to day management of the service

  • Responsible for the implementation of Health and Safety and ensuring that risk assessments are regularly carried out, monitored and updated to ensure compliance with relevant legislation

  • Responsible for ensuring a high level of customer focus and service is at the forefront of the delivery across the service

  • To ensure the organisation's corporate objectives and waste strategy, realising all potential reduction, reuse ad recycling opportunities, potential cost savings and commercial opportunities

  • Manage and accountable for the operational management of the team

  • Responsible for service delivery of recycling and waste collections

  • Accountable for robust and auditable inspections, including stock control, tools and equipment

  • Engage with the organisation's enforcement teams to tackle environmental crime

  • Responsible for ensuring all Cleaner Communities services are carried out in line with the agreed cleaning schedules and cleaning quality standard, to improve the safety of the community and promote community action to clean up neighbourhoods

  • Support the Head of Operations on regular reviews of service delivery against performance indicators

  • Provide support for planning, strategic direction, financial and performance management
