Senior Payroll Administrator




This is a permanent role reporting into the Payroll Supervisor. Hours of work are Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.30pm with 1hour break (Flexibility to reduce break to 30 minutes for 5.00pm finish, whilst working remotely).

Role requirements

  • Processing payroll changes (new starters, leavers, salaries, pro-rata calculations, shift pattern, data changes)

  • Knowledge and understanding of statutory payments & deductions

  • Create and check holiday, statutory and occupational payments

  • Answer employee payroll queries via daily monitoring of shared payroll email account

  • Ensure procedures are compliant with HMRC and audit requirements

  • Maintain accurate payroll records

  • Assist employees with online access to our payroll self-service portal

  • Look to improve current working processes and be proactive in providing alternative solutions

  • Proactive involvement with the implementation of a new integrated HR/Payroll system

  • At a future date (following training if required), to review and authorise company expenses in line with company policies and HMRC regulations.

  • In addition, this role may also be responsible for other ad hoc administrative duties relating company benefit schemes.


  • Previous experience working in a similar payroll position for approximately 2 years

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Knowledge of Auto-Enrolment & Salary Sacrifice processes would be advantageous but not essential

  • Experience of expense processing would be beneficial but not essential

  • Self-sufficient and able to prioritise own work

  • Can work to strict deadlines to ensure payroll deadlines are meet

  • Proactive and fast learner

  • Good IT skills in particular Microsoft Excel

  • Confident with the ability to communicate and engage at all levels, verbally and in writing

  • A desire to thrive in a role that requires a positive, proactive and flexible attitude towards change

  • Able to work in a secure and confidential environment

  • Willing to offer occasional flexibility in your hours of work where necessary to meet deadlines
