What is the job?

The role of the Senior Procurement Manager will be to lead on a variety of procurement projects (tenders) across all spend areas. You will report directly to the Head of Procurement.

To succeed in this position, you will be an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with good interpersonal skills who has the ability to work both independently and within a wider multi-functional stakeholder team.

The company has a procurement function that works alongside the business to provide procurement and commercial support to a number of projects - ranging from construction projects and creative marketing to catering, facilities management, engineering consumables, IT services, training and many more.

In anticipation of industry wide change, we are seeking an interim Senior Procurement Manager to provide support for an initial 6-month basis to help deliver a number of high-profile tenders, including frameworks (and Dynamic Purchasing Systems) and to support the wider Procurement team in setting the highest standards for both us, our business and our supply chain partners.

This is a unique opportunity to make your mark in an exciting area of the organisation - through a combination of strategy development and hands on delivery. To do this, we are seeking someone with strong category and Utility/Public Contract Regulation experience and a willingness to take the lead and get things done.

What will I be doing?

Providing outstanding commercial support to your stakeholders, managing risk, securing value for money, and driving innovation in the procurement of goods and services. You'll be doing this through designing, leading, and implementing effective sourcing strategies that deliver through life value for money.

You'll be instrumental in developing and leading individual procurement projects for competitive tender exercises in a regulated Procurement environment and in line with the Utilities Contract Regulations.

We're looking for someone who'll support the design and implementation of effective procurement strategies to help achieve commercially viable business goals. You'll enjoy developing and fostering knowledge of the supplier market within assigned categories.

You'll be an expert on the supplier marketplace within assigned categories to ensure credibility with internal stakeholders.

What sort of person are you looking for?

You'll enjoy engaging with customers, building meaningful relationships with suppliers and your communication skills will be second to none with the ability to adapt to the needs of the customer be it internal or external stakeholders. A skilled negotiator with effective project management skills, you'll also enjoy being part of a team, offering support and guidance when necessary to others.

What do I need to have?

  • Previous experience in a senior procurement/category management role ideally with a focus on Indirect categories of spend

  • Previous and recent experience in implementing competitive tenders compliant with European/UK procurement legislation

  • Previous and recent experience in designing and implementing strategic procurement strategies aligned to wider business objectives

  • Proven experience in managing supply chain relationships and performance

  • Experience with JCT forms of contract good but not essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent or MCIPS qualified
