They have a fantastic research and development base in the UK with various sites and are looking for a Senior Tax Manager to join their team in Ipswich or Cambridge.

This a challenging role but integral in the Finance Department to support the CFO on tax tasks. There are opportunities to progress within this role, and the client are flexible to working from Ipswich or Cambridge.

Job Purpose:

As a Senior Tax Manager, you need to support the CFO with tax-related matters, ensuring that operations and tax results comply with United Kingdom tax rules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deal with external tax reporting including input to the preparation of the company's RDEC claim, corporation tax return, PAYE Settlement Agreement, Short Term Business Visitor Reporting and VAT returns

  • Deal with internal reporting as required

  • Deal with local compliance for auditing and tax as required

  • Handle internal tax business according to the Group's tax management process

  • Maintain regular communication with experts in the Global Tax Centre

  • Assess United Kingdom tax policy changes and provide management recommendations

  • Participate in the review of tax clauses in contracts

  • Assisting with special projects and ad-hoc financial tasks as required by CFO

Person Specification:


  • Bachelor or Master in Economics, Business, Accounting, and Finance, or related field, ACCA or tax qualification will be a plus.

  • Ideally 5 years working experience in tax.

  • Good knowledge of accounting principles and local regulations, e.g. tax law, company law. Practical knowledge of financial accounting and reporting.

  • Must have strong work ethics.

  • Must be well organized and a self-starter.

  • Must be able to follow standard filing procedures.

  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable.

  • Good communication skills, fluent in English.

  • Proficient in Excel and Word

  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong problem solving skills, documentation skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills.

  • Ability to communicate with different dept effectively verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
