An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Service Delivery Manager to join a private sector organisation based in Dagenham, Essex.

The Service Delivery Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of all aspects of minor works / major work and construction project work streams across the business. This will include all aspects of managing building maintenance and construction work delivery across multiple contracts and clients. Managing a team of direct and indirect reports, consisting of Technical Supervisors and trade operatives and engineers. Delivering building construction works to multiple clients at various sites and buildings up to a value of circa £5m.

The successful candidate will hold their HNC (or equivalent) in building and hold membership of a professionally recognised construction industry body, i.e. RICS, CIOB. The successful applicant will have direct experience of managing the operational delivery of a programme of works, including the management of resources, work planning, customer engagement, quality assurance, etc and be able to work within a highly commercialised environment.

Key duties:

  • Take on full responsibility and accountability for the successful operational delivery of a range of work streams including responsive repairs, cyclical maintenance of major works and construction projects across multiple contracts

  • Management of minor and major works operations across a range of building construction maintenance activity for various clients and contracts. Manage the full supply chain management requirements to deliver successful services that achieve business objectives and meet customer needs

  • Managing approved contractors to meet service demands known and contingent, including procurement activity, commissioning, appointment and management in line with the company's contract rules and standard terms and conditions

  • Improve the efficiency and output of the repairs and maintenance services including its reputation with customers and stakeholders for producing excellent services

  • Attending site meetings as required to resolve operational and technical issues

  • Ensure accuracy of cost information in relation to projects and risk events. Ensure effective recovery of all claims/costs incurred.

  • Review and authorise sub-contract payments within specified delegated authority

  • Undertake and accurately record work-in-progress, post inspections, health and safety inspections and act accordingly on findings. Also, where necessary compile improvement plans and see these through to completion.

  • Provide accurate and timely reports on all aspects of projects being delivered including but not limited to production of monthly statistical and qualitative information in respect of service performance indicators and progress against targets and budgets.

  • Keep abreast of developments in contract management practices and changes to standards and legislation, to ensure that services provided conform to industry best practice and legislative requirements.

  • Developing new solutions and delivery models to improve efficiency, reduce costs, improve quality and customer experience.

  • Responsible for the commercial management and control of costs for operational delivery across the business and construction and maintenance contracts up to circa £5m.
