Service Development and Improvement Manager

3 Months (likely to be extended)

Umbrella £400 per day

Inside IR35

Mostly home working

  • Support the Director to meet the immediate demands of the Croydon Renewal Improvement Plan for the Children, Families and Education Department

  • Work collaboratively with Directors, Heads of Service, managers and the wider team to deliver a work programme to secure the continued improvement of children services

  • Matrix coordination and leadership of a programme of activities across the Children, Families and Education Department

  • Bring an evidence-based approach to policy and strategy development with a clear focus on effective implementation

  • Maintain the recording and reporting procedures that support Heads of Service and Directors to meet the client's programme management and reporting requirements

  • Oversee the work of a project manager, deploying their expertise as required to ensure the programme of work remains on track

Skills and abilities:

  1. Strong interpersonal skills and a proven track record of building effective working relationships with a wide range of internal and external partners.

  2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience of drafting high-quality briefings for senior leaders and elected members.

  3. Proven programme planning and organisational skills including the ability to adapt to deliver challenging objectives in a fast paced, high profile, and politically sensitive environment.

  4. Strong analytic skills with the ability to use a range of methodologies to produce clear recommendations and plans of action

  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team delivering at pace and managing deadlines across a broad portfolio of work
