Service Manager required to work with a Government department. This is an initial 6-month contract, paying £550 a day, inside IR35, Hybrid working.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational and management information reports to front line staff,

  • HQ colleagues and stakeholder to operational level agreements.

  • Manages the Business Objects technical reporting systems and services, including 2nd/3rd line support, maintenance and development, and associated documentation.

  • Provides data extracts to support FoI, PQs, research, and other ad hoc enquiries.

  • Manages a team of geographically dispersed staff, comprising Civil Servants and Contractors, to ensure a quality customer facing service.

  • Be a point of contact for Data Reporting across National legacy systems.

  • Work with Digital Product Teams to support the development of new services, by providing data extracts and insight into current usage.

  • Builds strategic relationships with key business stakeholders to ensure that their reporting needs are met - using knowledge within the team of the applications and business process across the client, and the newly developing suite of services to meet the growing need and exploit client data.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to decide and implement technical strategy underpinning the reporting platform - ensuring that value for money is achieved through Strategic thinking.

Essential Skills:

  • An experienced people manager with demonstrable experience of establishing, leading, managing and developing teams

  • Possess strong communication skills, relationship building, negotiation and influencing skills, including experience with ICT Suppliers / Teams

  • Experience writing and managing business cases and recruitment

  • Strong knowledge of service delivery - Can lead agile teams with a working knowledge of ITIL change processes

  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to valuing the diversity of others and treating everyone with dignity and respect at all times

  • Strategic ownership. You can develop a long-term vision and objectives. You are discerning and disciplined in focusing on what is important and most relevant. You know how to develop the capability of others.

  • Operational management. You keep abreast of industry best practice and can cascade ways of working. You know how to make operations efficient. You can act as the escalation point for major operational issues and champion operational management across the community. You can work closely with leaders of operational delivery teams in digital, data and technology

Desirable Skills:

  • Technical knowledge of reporting systems (SAP Business Objects an advantage)

  • Knowledge / experience of SQL
