ServiceNow Developer required to work with a Government department. This is an initial 12-month contract, paying £745 a day, inside IR35, hybrid working (1 day per week in the Canary Wharf office).



The Developer will work on software components that form part of a product. You will be involved in designing, running and improving software that meets user needs. You will typically work under the guidance of senior colleagues in your team.



You will work to our technical standards writing clean, secure code following a test-driven approach, ensuring the code is open as far as possible and can be re-used.



This specific role will be within the ServiceNow team. ServiceNow is the company's strategic IT Service Management toolset and is critical to the effective delivery of quality IT Services across all departments.



Main Responsibilities:



  • Delivering secure, reliable and scalable software in your team; undertaking a breadth of development tasks

  • Designing new software using appropriate tools and in line with standards, proving designs through prototyping

  • Reporting on system performance and supporting test activities; keeping documentation up to date

  • Supporting services you have delivered through regular maintenance activities, balancing your work with your leadership

  • Working with other engineers to deliver new capability, for instance improved CI/CD pipelines or test approaches



Essential Skills:



  • Experience working with theServiceNow platform, including:

    • A ServiceNow System Administration Certification

    • Evidence backed experience in designing ServiceNow applications and web-based solutions

    • In-Depth cross-tool understanding of ServiceNow, such as workflow, user interface (UI), client scripts, and business rules.



  • Experience working with a rapid development methodology, in particular Agile/Scrum or DevOps software development.

  • Solid understanding of the application development lifecycle process, including requirement analysis, quality assurance, design, scheduling, implementation, issue tracking, version control release management and deployment.

  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript Web 2.0 Technologies, Web Services and Web communications protocols (knowledge of Angular and Bootstrap desired)

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to confidently present to external stakeholders.



Desirable Skills:



  • An understanding of best practice ITIL v4 methodology

  • Comfortable engaging stakeholders within a complicated, high pressure environment

  • Experience in balancing multiple priorities and dealing with ambiguity



Qualifications:



  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator
