School Site Assistant


Rotational Shift Pattern including some weekends


Salary: £27,923K per annum



Monday to Friday (split shift): 6am to 12pm - 12pm to 8pm



We are pleased to be recruiting for a site assistant, for a large diverse primary and secondary school in East London. This is to ensure the provision of a safe, clean, attractive learning environment, as part of a team undertaking responsibility for the maintenance, security, health, and safety of the academy site (including grounds, buildings, facilities, and equipment), ensuring that they operate efficiently and effectively.



Duties Include:



  • To be fully engaged in ensuring the academy health and safety and other related policies are fully adhered to

  • To carry out servicing, cleaning, and checking of academy vehicles within capabilities

  • To provide technical and craft support to teaching staff as directed by the Premises Manager

  • To provide site security as required

  • To maintain, decorate and repair the academy premises where appropriate

  • To liaise with and support external contractors on site, always ensuring supervision

  • Maintain the academy grounds (including the school farm), keep site clear of litter and empty bins regularly

  • Monitor the toilets for cleanliness and replenish soap, toilet tissue, roller towels as necessary

  • Regularly tour around the academy, keeping corridors free from litter

  • Report to the Premises Manager, any lights that need replacing, graffiti or any broken fixtures and fittings

  • Being vigilant for any health and safety hazards, mitigating risk immediately and appropriately and reporting this to the Premises Manager as soon as is possible

  • To be responsible for ensuring that any "accidents", sickness or spillages are promptly cleaned, disinfected, and made safe

  • To complete any tasks as reasonably requested by the Premises Manager

  • To cover for absent colleagues, as appropriately required

  • To participate and attend meetings and training as appropriate including INSET days

  • To take an active role in own professional development in line with performance management objectives

  • To ensure confidentiality is always maintained
