SMT Process Engineer

  • Responsible for maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of all related manufacturing equipment and processes required to manufacture a high-quality product in a repeatable and cost-effective manner

  • Drive improvements in all related manufacturing processes, including those related to products, equipment, human interface, and product quality

  • Take responsibility for maintaining and improving factory processes and related metrics, such as production efficiency, cycle times, capacity, and capabilities

  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI), Design for Manufacture (DfM) recommendations and development

  • Support programming, operation, and service of SMT and automated equipment including Jet Printer, Solder Paste Inspection, Vapour Phase, Automatic Optical Inspection, Wave Soldering, Selective Soldering, X-Ray, Routers and Dispense Robots

  • Support data outputs for machine programming

  • Support stencil design and Reflow, Wave and Selective Solder profiling

  • Liaise with Quality, Engineering and Operations on product and line queries

  • Perform corrective action analysis, processing troubleshooting, and new process development/qualification

  • Support document control activities to ensure documentation is correct and complete and available for all product builds and process operations

  • Provide "on the floor" technical support as required for critical process and product issues

  • Perform equipment evaluation, installation, optimisation, training and documentation

Role Specification

  • Experience in handling SMD, MSL, PCB, and Tooling for PCBA process.

  • Expert in Print, Jetting, Dispensing, SPI, Placement, AOI, Soldering, PCBA Cleaning and Coating Processes.

  • Experience in machine programming, line optimisation, profiling and tooling (stencil etc.) designs.

  • Be able to perform DFM and come out with a design recommendation.

  • Experience writing and following manufacturing documentation and procedures

  • Experience following quality standard and inspection requirements to IPC and ISO Standards in EMS.

  • Knowledge of PB vs RoHS and used consumables like solder paste, fluxes etc.

  • Able to read and understand engineering bill of materials and drawings

  • Understand BOM, CAD, GBR and Assembly drawing to setup process.

  • Experience in equipment selection process and ROIC.

Person Specification

  • Bachelors or Master degree in engineering

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar role

  • Hands on experience with continuous improvement manufacturing

  • Must be a problem solver and combine their technical knowledge with that of human capabilities and operational limitations

  • Good communication skills

  • Proactive and flexible approach
