Principal Accountabilities and Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:



  • To manage internal stores across all sites to ensure continued supply to both internal and external customers. Travel will be required between the two sites on a regular basis.

  • Raise purchase orders as and when required.

  • To continually improve operation wide processes to optimise inventories at reduced cost while meeting customer expectations of quality and on-time delivery.

  • Analysis of purchasing data, monitoring of consumption of product, monitoring of supplier performance and implementing improvement plans.

  • Ensuring internal and external customer satisfaction at all times.

  • To undertake Purchasing and Logistics projects to bring significant business enhancements

  • To provide cover for the Purchasing Associate.

  • To provide support to the Purchasing department in all aspects of inbound and outbound material flow including procurement, supply, inventory management and day to day stores and purchasing controls.

  • Obtain quotes for goods and services and place orders with best value suppliers

  • Development of purchase price management and processes

  • Developing the business by analysing logistical and purchasing problems and producing cost effective new solutions

  • Maintaining optimal inventory levels of materials / consumables

  • Minimising obsolescence stock

  • Monitoring the quality, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods

  • Consumable cost control

  • Management of Approved Suppliers listing / Supplier Performance.

  • Developing a network of contacts to identify materials management best practice

  • Timely provision of materials in accordance with the production program to minimise disruption and reduce quality risks.

  • Regular audited stock takes

  • Progress chasing of orders from suppliers.

  • Dealing with day-to-day issues concerning late deliveries and shortages.


· Complete other duties and take on additional responsibilities as requested.


· Amending orders as necessary.


· Closing off of purchase orders.


· Booking in goods received.



  • Ensure all good Health and Safety practices are being followed.

  • To undertake any other duties as may be required within the scope of the post and participate as and when necessary in organisational wide initiatives and projects





Person Specification



Skills:


· Logistics and Purchasing KPI's (measured environment)



  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively


· Strong negotiation, planning and scheduling skills


· Problem solving


· Must want to aspire to achieve high standards of work and professionalism at all times


· Remain calm whilst working under pressure



Qualifications:


· Relevant qualifications in Materials, Planning, Logistics or business administration



Experience:


· Minimum of 3 years Purchasing, Inventory Control & Logistics experience



  • A proven track record of stock control

  • Experience of using SAP or similar

  • Extensive experience within a manufacturing environment

  • MS Office Skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc…)



Personal:


Ability to travel between the Kidderminster and Worcester Sites.
