Store Operative


Our client, a higher education are looking to recruit a Store Operative to assist in ensuring the provision of receiving, booking-in, sorting, handling, distribution and delivering of all incoming goods and materials in accordance with departmental procedures.



  • Location: White City

  • Pay: £11.86 per hour

  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm

  • Start Date: February 2020

  • Duration: 3 Months


Job Description



  • Acceptance of all goods and materials delivered to the Campus.

  • Checking that goods and materials received correspond with the number delivered, and that care is taken to check and ensure that all packages are in a good condition before acceptance.

  • Reporting immediately all discrepancies to the Team Leader.

  • Providing a clear signature, name and date to the driver/courier delivering the goods and materials.

  • Ensuring goods are checked for special storage conditions and correct procedures are followed at all times.

  • Entering receipt and delivery information on the College systems and generating and applying relevant documentation and labels.

  • To conduct stock takes under the direction of the Team Leader.

  • Accurate picking of stock from consignment stock levels.

  • To carry out administrative requirements of the role - checking documentation, scanning, photocopying and filing.

  • Delivering goods and materials to end users at White City Campus and locations specified on the purchase order.

  • To meet daily operational KPIs.

  • Making sure all receipts and delivery records are kept up to date and filed.

  • Ensuring name and signature of each recipient is obtained upon delivery of goods/parcels.

  • Advising the Team Leader before accepting delivery of incorrect or damaged goods.

  • To deal with delivery queries raised by clients in a timely manner.

  • To report any defects, repairs and maintenance issues to the Team Leader.

  • To provide a courteous and efficient service to all end users.

  • Ensuring all deadlines regarding collection and deliveries are met.

  • Investigate incorrectly addressed items and establish ownership.

  • Making sure all returns are collected by the relevant courier and reporting any failure to Line Manager.


Skills/Experience



  • Effective written and verbal communication and good IT Skills.

  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy.

  • Good organisational and time management skills, in order to deliver an efficient and effective service.

  • Ability to use own initiative in order to deal with problems which may hinder the delivery of an effective service.

  • Experience of working with Stores/Post room specialised equipment.
