Job Title: Stores Assistant


Location: Ashford, Kent


Salary: £25,116


Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-4pm

Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:



  • Support the Stores Controller in ensuring the Stock/Materials are maintained in accordance with usage.

  • Support the departments with allocation of materials to allow operatives to manufacture products.

  • Understand and follow the stock booking in and allocation process.

  • Support and communicate any stock shortages and any stock discrepancy issues.

  • Handle goods inwards and liaise with other departments for the quarantining, returning and replacement of non-conforming receipts to/with suppliers.

  • Ensure ALL delivery and dispatch paperwork is accurate and filed correctly.

  • Be aware and familiar with stock processes including critical month end timings and correct procedure.

  • Support and assist the receiving/offloading of goods, ensure paperwork is correct and that deliveries in and out are cross checked to avoid costly short delivery issues.

  • Ensure deliveries are recorded accurately onto the system on the date of receipt to provide live accurate data.

  • Support with the implementation and maintenance of stock locations ensuring they are labelled, marked and aligned with the system.

  • Allocate and record stock on the computer and feedback any BOM deviations/discrepancies.

  • Generate job sheets for internal production of stock items.

  • Run, planning workbench to ensure stock jobs due dates are up to date and liaise with the Works Manager to ensure goods are replaced in time.

  • Assist with monthly stock testing/quarterly physical stock take, including reports, physical accounting, reconciliation and investigating discrepancies.

  • Ensure all raw materials are locked into the dedicated secure storage area at the end of each day.

  • Always adhering to the HSE policies and procedures without exception.

  • All other reasonable duties required by your line manager or the senior management team.


Experience and skills required for this position:



  • Previous experience within a stores / stock role

  • A strong communicator

  • The ability to communicate with people at all levels

  • Can do attitude and willing to help others

  • The ability to work alone or as part of a team
