Switchboard Operator


Articulate and empathetic individuals needed to join D&C Police as part of their summer call handling team, from Mid June until early September


Working a shift pattern covering 7 days a week (hours between 07.00 and 01.00) these roles will require flexibility but offer an excellent opportunity to get experience within D&C Police.


Responsibilities:



  • Handling inbound telephone calls, providing information, guidance and advice to a range of queries from members of the public.

  • Accurately recording details of the conversations.

  • Making fast decisions under pressure using the National Decision Model (NDM) to assess Threat, Harm, Risk, Investigation, Vulnerability, Engagement (THRIVE)

  • Deal appropriately with callers who may be distressed, emotional, vulnerable, drunk, suicidal or in crisis and decide on the right course of action.


Requirements:



  • Excellent keyboard skills (able to capture critical information and record it accurately)

  • Excellent oral, listening and written communication skills

  • Previous call centre, customer service or control room experience highly advantageous

  • Emotional resilience when handling disturbing or difficult evidence, circumstances etc
