Technical Lead for Voice and Video, required to work with a Government department. This is an initial 6 month contract, paying £750 per day, inside IR35, remote/hybrid (London offices)


As a Technical Video Service Lead, you will manage the collaboration and communications technology projects and ongoing support within Technology Services.



Main Responsibilities



  • Provide technical AV consultancy to service users, understanding their business needs, objectives and practices and designing, configuring and deploying high-quality solutions that leverage the standardised technologies to underpin the department's operations and support future growth.

  • Providing technical expertise and support for the management of the Video solutions across organisation.

  • Review and oversee change implementation and support relevant testing on behalf of the business - Voice & Video Service Team.

  • Assess the infrastructure and AV hardware specific requirements of assigned projects, including FRS and proposal Document (PD) reviews.

  • Plan and supervise installation of AV technology, including setup, configuration and maintenance of audio, video, Digital Signage and networks services and taking into account any third-party dependencies.

  • Translate customer requirements into functional system designs, including Video, IPTV/Digital Signage, standards-based VC and peripheral room-based solution design and supporting CTS-Demand team with RFS submission and supplier management.

  • Create effective, prioritised product descriptions and delivery plans to meet user needs in a cost effective way.

  • Work both with outsourced suppliers and internal infrastructure teams to ensure that services are delivered effectively and aligned with the infrastructure roadmap.

  • Provide technical expertise and escalation support for the frontline operational team and end users, where required and assisting in the resolution of faults or queries.

  • Working with Commercial & Contracts Management Team when managing a Video service provider's budgeting, accounting and charging requirements.

  • Negotiate best possible pricing with suppliers/manufacturers for upcoming projects or as part of PD reviews, on behalf of the organisation.

  • Develop and manage stakeholder relationships within D&T and externally to create buy in for the product.

  • Attending regular service review meetings with suppliers, to ensure that Service Level Agreement (SLA) are being met.

  • Manage third-party maintenance service vendors and ensure faults are resolved in line with agreed SLAs.



Experience Required:



  • Comprehensive working knowledge of current AV systems, associated IT elements and their installations (including AMX, Crestron, Extron, audio DSP, video conferencing, video streaming, digital signage, etc).

  • Strong understanding of project management principles, terminology, key success factors, and methodologies.

  • Understand and interpret technology and infrastructure architecture standards.

  • Understanding infrastructure interrelationships and being involved with wider organisational strategy.

  • Core tactical skills of product management, capturing user needs to inform decision-making and prioritisation, and translated into actionable goals. Capable of working with a range of specialists in a multidisciplinary team and applying the tools, terms, and concepts in a variety of ways to suit your context.

  • Using recognised methodologies - evidence ITIL, Scrum or other recognised process / Project Management (Agile, Prince2) methodology.

  • Working technical knowledge of Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business, Video Conference systems and digital conference phones, WebRTC, virtual meeting rooms and Cloud-based video.

  • Understanding of architectural standards and direction of architecture for environments and infrastructure domain within the IT Organisation.

  • Familiarity with digital video standards and formats.
