Technical Lead - End User Computing Services required to work with a Government department. This is an initial 12-month contract, paying £750 a day, inside IR35, hybrid working (2 days per week your chosen office). Office locations: National.

As the Lead Technical Specialist for End User Compute Services, you would lead the activity to identify and document our existing landscape but more excitingly, work with our Service Owners and Technical Teams to identify our strategy and requirements moving forwards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage technical work related to a new large scale desktop deployment workstream

  • Manage the analysis of the as-is desktop environment - user settings, configuration, deployment, applications, environmental settings, infrastructure services.

  • Organise technical output from varying sources, internal/external into actionable plans to progress the workstream

  • Ensure relevant sources of data and information are identified and gathered for the workstream from accurate sources in a timely manner

  • Understand the existing desktop environment and its dependencies to provide informed feedback to the project/stakeholders.

  • Manage output of engineering and technical staff in terms of timeliness, accuracy and being fit for purpose to Company standards and requirements

  • Technical assurance of configuration for desktop deployment - technical planning, change, design, documentation.

  • Work with and manage outputs from vendors and partners who are participating in the workstream

  • Interface with organisation change management to progress project workstream

  • Oversee and plan automation of desktop deployment, application delivery and service change (patching updates etc)

  • Input into updates management, patching and service lifecycles of new desktop environment and associated dependencies

  • Define and implement security management for desktop services to meet Organisational security requirements

  • Manage and implement approved business continuity for desktop services

  • Provide input into service management to bring a new desktop service into production.

  • Provide leadership in support for engineers for project deployment and delivery activities - desktop deployment to multisite / '000's of users

  • Manage estimation for resourcing for technical roles relating to desktop design, configuration or deployment.

  • Input into processes to onboard support for new desktop services (third party or inhouse)

  • Input into defining support requirements for desktop service and supporting infrastructure services.

  • Provide feedback to provide constant service improvement for desktop services during the lifecycle of the project

  • Work in an agile delivery methodology

  • Raise requests with existing support teams to progress testing or rollout

  • Use Scrum/stand ups/sprints to complete work and actively manage backlogs for workstream

  • Provide input into management reporting on project progress

Essential Skills:

  • A good understanding of the varying technologies, platforms and operational models

  • Experience in driving requirements workshops to understand the customer business and operational outcomes.

  • Steer new solutions to a successful outcome where multiple 3rd parties or technical stake holders are involved

  • Experience in all aspects of Microsoft 365 services, with focus on AzureAD, Endpoint Manager, Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint

  • Able to determine where gaps exist in current architectures, people and processes and being proactive in bridging those gaps

  • Responsible for documenting design, installation, and configuration of EUCS infrastructure to best practice.

  • To help drive the Product Roadmap for new solutions, services, or products

  • Ability to identify and engage the right areas of the business to maximise support for automation initiatives

  • Excellent customer facing skills including senior stake holder management

  • Owning the structure and delivery of technical design workshops ensuring the required outcome is delivered and the results captured

  • Managing of internal resources and 3rd parties and their deliverables to ensure timely and quality delivery of solutions

  • To create and manage Statements of Work for mid-contract changes

  • To help drive the policies and procedures that contribute to the maintenance of ISO, Data Protection and ITIL based standards/processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Asset and Release Management).
