The Temporary Accommodation Officer job role includes, but not exclusive to;

  • To understand the challenges and complexities around homelessness today, the impact that homelessness has on families and single people, and have a commitment to addressing housing issues and reducing homelessness.

  • To be responsible for the effective co-ordinated delivery of support to households in temporary accommodation.

  • To deliver services which effectively prevent homelessness and support vulnerable people and families sustain their tenancy/home.

  • To manage and support more complex, sensitive or high risk cases such as, mental health, addiction and offending by arranging case conferences with the relevant agencies.

  • To ensure decisions are made in accordance with legislation, case law and local policies.

  • To be responsible for dealing with a range of cases, including complex cases which may be subject to judicial review and ombudsman enquiries.

  • To have a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and procedures on homelessness and to provide innovative advice and solutions when dealing with complex and difficult cases.

  • To participate in regional, London-wide and national networks and groups to ensure the Council is able to provide high quality housing advice and homelessness prevention services.

The ideal candidate would have previous experience in this or a similar role and experience in the public sector would be advantageous.
