To ensure the effective and efficient management of the Council's Temporary Accommodation Hostels in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures. To ensure properties meet the required health & safety standards, that repairing obligations are met, minimising voids and managing relationships with homeless households. To support the Temporary Accommodation Management Officer (Hostels/PLS) and the Lead Officer Accommodation Services by contributing to the overall development of the temporary accommodation service


To ensure the effective management of the Councils Hostels, including lettings, day-to-day operations, repairs ordering, dealing with licence breaches, health and safety ● To contribute to planning for the development of the service to ensure continued effective and efficient operation. ● To liaise with all partners and contractors to monitor the repairs, rent recovery and management of temporary accommodation. ● To support residents to maintain their stay at the provided accommodation by offering advice on support services and welfare benefits, and liaising with support services on their behalf (social service, resettlement, etc.). ● To liaise with Legal Services for steps required for repossession measures and to represent the Council at court hearings and evictions. ● To meet and exceed performance targets, and to submit to the Lead Officer Accommodation Services/Tier 2 Temporary Accommodation Management Officer information and performance statistics relating to the work of the service. ● To assist with the identification and implementation of best practice and innovation. ● To deliver a high quality temporary accommodation management service to homeless households and other occupants of temporary accommodation ensuring that all administrative tasks are completed to a high standard. ● To liaise with Allocations Team to effect discharge of duty as required. ● To ensure that voids and rent loss are minimised ● To maintain current knowledge of law and policy relating to the service and to provide specialist advice to colleagues as required. ● To liaise with colleagues and partners to maximise the use of private sector opportunities to accommodate homeless households and avoid the use of bed & breakfast accommodation wherever possible. ● Develops strong partnership working with internal and external agencies to improve and promote the service. ● To provide an on-call contact in emergencies and participate in out of hours emergency cover to all hostels. ● To contribute to the preparation of a draft annual Team Plan for the service and to assist with the review and development of performance targets. To contribute to an efficient voids service so that void turnaround times are in line with agreed targets
