An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Temporary Accommodation Officer to join a public sector organisation based in Essex.


The successful candidate will have an understanding of the challenges and complexities around homelessness. The successful candidate will also have experience managing and supporting complex housing cases, delivering services to prevent homelessness and support vulnerable people to sustain their tenancy. The successful applicant will have a comprehensive and up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and procedures on homelessness and provide innovative advice and solutions.



Key duties include:



  • To be responsible for the effective coordinated delivery of support to households in temporary accommodation

  • To deliver services which effectively prevent homelessness and support vulnerable people and families sustain their tenancy/home

  • To manage and support more complex, sensitive or high risk cases, such as mental health, addiction and offending by arranging case conferences with the relevant agencies

  • To be responsible for dealing with a range of cases, including complex cases which may be subject to judicial review and ombudsman enquiries

  • To work with households living in temporary accommodation to sustain their tenancies

  • To work with key partners and stakeholders to address the factors which contribute to individuals being at risk of rough sleeping/homelessness and develop and deliver services which effectively prevent rough sleeping and support vulnerable people away from the street and into safe accommodation

  • To participate in regional, London-wide and national networks and groups to ensure the organisation is able to provide high quality housing advice and homelessness prevention services
