Territory Business Manager - South UK


A 12-month assignment opportunity for a Territory Business Manager has arisen for my client, a large global FMCG organisation. The role is 75% field based and will cover The New Forest, Salisbury, Newbury, Slough, SW London, Horsham and Worthing. The ideal candidate needs to live within the patch for the role to work geographically.


Pay rate: £16.41 per hour


Duration: 12 months


Hour: 37.5 per week


Job Purpose


In the Specialist Pet Retail channel, the Territory Business Manager's purpose is to implement SPT Natural Brands and the Clients Legacy Brands strategy in the market. The objective is to drive and develop sales, perfect store, and category growth in the Independent Retail sector within a defined area.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Management of Key Accounts on territory.

  • Develop the territory through focusing on Perfect Store - driving distribution, availability, visibility, and in-store execution in physical stores and online.

  • Identify new opportunities to develop territory sales in line with company strategy and key account strategy

  • Proactively promote product and brand visibility through correct and strategic product placement within stores to increase sales

  • Achieve territory sales and distribution targets through implementing National and Local marketing plan and activities with your customers

  • Support new products launches and deliver NPD targets

  • Share nutritional knowledge to educate and train store staff.

  • Implement brand & product training for retailers

  • Ensure best practice sharing amongst peer associates at team meetings

  • Ensure close working relationship between all brands and channels

  • Management of call coverage and journey planning in accordance to coverage targets

  • Maintain CRM records for all visited customers

  • Provide local market information to line manager and other teams.e.g. competitor activity

  • Attendance at company events - E.g. Trade Shows


Context and Scope



  • 75% of the time is field based with 25% working from home, managing key accounts.

  • Daily interaction with customer base developing relationships

  • Collaborating with team to improve ways of working and efficiency's

  • Collaborates with Customer Development Managers - Wholesale at least once a period

  • Collaborates with Customer Development Manager - Influencer (Vets and Breeders)

  • Liaise with Wholesaler's Field Sales Reps

  • Coordinate merchandiser activity with 3rd part merchandisers


Education & Professional Qualification



  • Ideally degree qualified


Knowledge/Experience



  • Numerate and analytical

  • Strong selling and negotiation skills

  • Excellent Communication and Relationship building skills

  • Results and targets driven

  • Full Clean Driving License
