Adecco are currently recruiting for a TRADING STANDARDS OFFICER to work for a Local Authority in LEWES.





£25.00 PER HOUR

Ideal candidate should be qualified to undertake food standards enforcement work.


Assist the Team Manager in the preparation and delivery of the Trading Standards Service Delivery Plan.

Key Tasks

  • Supervise the delivery of services proactively and positively to ensure the achievement of departmental, service and personal performance targets including nationally and locally agreed key performance indicators.

  • Represent the service at meetings and on working parties and user groups as required.

  • Be responsible for developing programmes of work to deliver the core objectives of the team and ensuring delivery through the team in an efficient and effective manner.

  • Contribute to the resolution of complex service delivery issues and complaints in an appropriate and timely manner in accordance with County Council policies and procedures.

  • Participate in the monitoring and review the effectiveness of services to improve performance and ensure best value for stakeholders and customers, recommending improvements as appropriate.

  • Assist with mentoring, coaching and training colleagues in order to support learning and development objectives and priorities to meet service delivery standards.

  • Assist with response to emergency and business continuity events.

  • Liaise proactively with customers, stakeholders and colleagues and participate in the development of effective working relationships.

  • Represent the County Council at external meetings and events, as appropriate

  • Contribute to the provision of professional information, guidance and advice to County Council managers and County Councillors including responses to national consultations.

  • Participate in the preparation of contract and tender documents and assist with the tendering process

  • Participate in the assessment of business proposals, service reviews and new legislative requirements.

  • Develop and participate in the management and maintenance of paper and ICT based systems securing efficiencies and value for money.

  • Organise and deliver consultation exercises and events coordinating the work of others to ensure accessibility standards are met; appropriate customers and stakeholders are informed and aware, deliver presentations and ensure the process is conducted efficiently and effectively.

  • Continuously review and develop local systems and processes to ensure the Department's services meet corporate and locally set quality standards.
