Calling All Transport Managers!

My client, a packaging manufacturer based in Yardley, is currently recruiting for a Transport Manager to join their organisation!

The successful candidate will provide service excellence and ensure that all resources within the department are engaged as effectively and efficiently as possible. To provide the maximum profitability and levels of service within the department and the company; to always portray a professional and motivated style of leadership.


  • Salary £45,000 per annum

  • Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.30pm

  • Immediate start available

  • 25 days plus bank holibobs


  • Constantly explore opportunities to reduce logistics costs by reducing inventory in the supply chain and minimizing the time delay between sales and replenishment.

  • Work with the relevant third parties to set up hubs reducing costs and lead times.

  • Build a third-party logistics infrastructure to support the Group's ambition.

  • Review reverse logistics in the Group and develop a best practice process flow that improves efficiency, minimizes costs to the group and maximises income.

  • Ensure all legal, health and safety, security, transport and company policy requirements are strictly adhered to.

  • Develop and ensure the consistent application and execution of standard operating procedures to provide industry leading service and efficient processes in depot.

  • To take responsibility for the management of fleet planning maintenance and compliance protecting the businesses Operators Licence and OCR Score.

  • Champion all professional practices and behaviours, and ensures all staff are trained effectively. Coach and mentors team members and support the creation of a coaching culture.

  • Organise and control all transport resources to ensure maximum efficiency

  • through effective management of people, assets, costs and productivity.

  • Monitor and control variable costs to ensure profit targets are met

  • Proactively build and maintain a full up to date understanding of the business' services and products

  • Provide an inspiring leadership and coaching style

  • Achieve results through collaboration

  • Resilient and open to change

  • Ability to work at a strategic level to ensure all plans and initiatives are future proof

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Legal Requirements - Holds a Transport Manager CPC qualification

  • Stakeholder Management - People management and leadership experience including previous success with managing teams and driving results

  • FMCG Environment - Able to work at pace whilst maintaining an accurate, high quality output

  • Experience and proven credentials - Management experience within a warehouse/commercial / parcel freight environment

  • Prioritisation - Highly organised with a well-developed approach to prioritisation

  • People and Customer Orientation - Be people and customer centric focused and be passionate about people and service development
