Victim Care Officer


** Part time - 30hours a week, will involve weekend working **


We have had an exciting opportunity become available for a Victim Care Officer to join Devon & Cornwall Police for a period of 6 months in the Exeter area. You will be a primary point of contact for victims of crime working closely with other functions and partner agencies to ensure the right support options, guidance and information is provided.


Your duties will include:



  • Thoroughly reviewing all information on Crime systems to inform and tailor support the meet individual needs

  • Managing varied and complex workloads, with cases at various stages

  • Maintaining accurate records, ensuring timely updates on any case management systems and to any other systems in accordance with relevant information

  • Building and maintaining relationships with external partners

  • Dealing with callers in emotional distress, assessing risk and using the National Decision Model (NDM) to respond appropriately


Requirements:



  • Experience dealing with a wide range of people from a cross section of the community in varying circumstances

  • The ability to communicate sensitively and effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Proven experience to plan and prioritise a challenging workload

  • Experience working collaboratively with other agencies
