Vulnerability Lawyer


We are currently looking for a Vulnerability Lawyer to provide a comprehensive legal service to the Chief Constables, the OPCC's, officers and Police staff generally for both Devon & Cornwall and Dorset Police. This position will be based in Bournemouth for a period of 6 months.


Responsibilities:



  • To act as a 'front line' lawyer, working alongside officers and staff to proactively seek opportunities for and advise upon the full range of civil preventative orders available for Police Forces

  • Analyse information and intelligence to identify legal opportunities to protect the vulnerable and safeguard communities

  • Work closely with officers and staff to develop legally sound evidence and Court material

  • Attend relevant Force tactical meetings across both Forces to promote safeguarding opportunities

  • Work with the CPS to evaluate orders gained upon conviction, identifying and consulting missed opportunities and providing training when necessary


Requirements:



  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FILEX

  • A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Police Law

  • Ability to manage a considerable and diverse caseload providing clear advice

  • Ability to make applications in Court

  • Ability to work in a highly pressurised environment and to be able to offer flexibility and advice within time constraints
