The Warehouse Operative role is to ensure that goods are received, stored and dispatched smoothly, safely and in line with appropriate processing guidelines, relevant to the goods being processed, while meeting productivity targets ensuring customer goods remain undamaged.

  1. Key Tasks

  • Perform manual handling including (unloading/unpacking of deliveries and loading/packing of despatches).

  • Required to label (duty stamping/stripe/packaging) for customers.

  • Take Photographs of seals (seal numbers) before the vehicle is opened and when closed up ready for delivery

  • Take photos of stock within the warehouse while loading and unloading and pre load departure.

  • Assist in re-palletising products and applying shrink wrap to ensure goods are safe for onward movement.

  • Ensure that all products are checked thoroughly for damages, discrepancies on arrival and upon dispatch.

  • Report any loading/unloading discrepancies immediately to Warehouse Supervisor.

  • Ensure that all required details for deliveries are reported to the Goods In team in a timely fashion.

  • Ensure all goods are correctly labelled for easy identification within designated areas of the warehouse.

  • Ensure that all picking/packing of orders is performed with upmost attention to detail to ensure high levels of accuracy.

  • Perform regular stock checking with warehouse supervisor and report and rectify any stock discrepancies in a timely fashion.

  • Operate Forklift truck (Counter-balance/Reach or other machinery) safely in the workplace. Including loading/unloading vehicles, stowing of products ensuring no damage to goods occur.

  • Undertake in house training as directed by the Warehouse Manager including obtaining 'Permission to Operate' certificates.

  • Any other reasonable task as requested by Warehouse Supervisor/Manager.

4. Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with attention to detail.

  • Numeracy to at least level 1.

  • Knowledge of the legal requirements of operating a Bonded Warehouse.

  • Planning and Organisational Skills.

  • The ability to work as part of a team.

  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

  • Ensure recording of deliveries is correctly documented.

  • Ensure product/order picking is carried out in accordance with customer instructions via the picking note.

  • Minimise damages within the warehouse to customer stock.

  • Maintain BRC Standards at all times.

  • Support the Company to maintain a clean, safe warehouse.
