Position: Part time Underwriter (weekends only)
Location: Redhill (Remote position, candidate will be required in the office for Induction and training only)
Start Date: 4 weeks after the Offer
Working Hours: 16 hours a week , Saturday & Sunday 9 am - 6 pm with 1 hour lunch break


Permanent Position


Primary purpose of the role
To underwrite all Motor Finance applications within personal authority and to recommend a course of action on those cases which exceed this mandate, in accordance with the Retail Credit Policy and applicable policies and procedures. To provide an efficient, accurate and timely fleet funding service to the dealer network and the sales force, by communicating in a professional manner and maintaining a high-quality standard.


Main Responsibilities
* Comply with GDPR and our Money Laundering guidelines.
* Effective enhanced due diligence and escalation of any suspicious activity
* Underwrite credit transactions within personal underwriting authority
* Ensure quality standards are met
* Ensure internal control procedures are adhered to and report any variations to these procedures to Senior Management
* Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the client's Finance UK products, procedures and company policy, whilst keeping up to date with any changes.
* To provide and analyse ad-hoc management information and statistical reports as and when required.
* To work effectively with the team in order to achieve team and organisational goals.
* Monitor the Underwriting Queue in order that proposals are processed in time and
* date order.
* Monitor the Blocked Queues and take the relevant action in order that any blocked
* deal may enter the underwriting queue.
* Underwrite credit transactions within personal lending authority.
* Recommend a course of action on all cases which fall outside personal lending
* authority.
* Mentor the less experienced members of staff on the more complex business and
user facilities.
* Provide feedback to the Management Team regarding progression of training for
their junior colleagues.
* Advise the dealer network of all decisions via GP.
* Enter into the negotiation process as and when necessary with the Dealer network
and our Sales force.
* Have a good understanding of SIRA and the Fraud Guidelines and to make referrals
as and when appropriate.
* Complete individual daily / monthly productivity returns.
* To be responsible for personal development with the support of the Underwriting
Controller.
* Undertake ad-hoc duties as and when required by the Underwriting Controller or the
Underwriting Manager.
* Monitor individual default % and liaise effectively with your Controller and
collections team when required.
* To check documents, and analyse underwriting requirements to ensure correct
funding in accordance with the terms of acceptance.
* To resolve "snagged" documents effectively by liaising with the Peugeot/Citroen
dealer network, the motor manufacturer and other departments within the
organisation, via the telephone and written communication.
* To ensure that adequate training, coaching and guidance is provided to the Dealer
Services teams.


Previous experience required
* Experience in Dealer services and Customer Services environment is desirable
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise and communicate with all levels of staff, management and key customers is essential
* Knowledge of Credit Scoring Systems
* Good working knowledge and ability to analyse Accounts
* GP and Encore experience essential
