The successful candidate will be required to work up to a maximum of 16 hours per week.

The successful candidate will have recent experience of providing benefit advice and advocacy. The successful candidate will also have experience of local authority charging schemes for residential and domiciliary care.

Key duties will include:

� To provide telephone advice to social services staff and customers on welfare rights, benefits and charges for care provisions.

� To undertake individual casework which will range from assisting with the completion of claim forms to complex advocacy and support. To maintain comprehensive case records. To interview clients by appointment and carry out surgeries upon request.

� To prepare and deliver training programmes

� To liaise with local and statutory organisations about welfare rights issues

� To undertake policy work, raise issues, prepare reports and provide advice as required on welfare rights and related matters such as charges for residential care and home care services
