New exciting opportunity to join an established team as a Fleet Workshop Manager!

Your role is key to ensuring the company have fully operational vehicles to fulfil their contracts.

Salary: £42,000 - £46,000/year

Hours: 45 hours/week


  • Ensuring the safety of vehicles, you will be responsible for workshop productivity and making sure performance targets are met.

  • Delivering excellent standards of operational services within a safety-first culture. You will be able to demonstrate operational efficiency. You'll recognise commercial opportunity and maximise on profitability.

  • Liaising with and overseeing the performance of contractors in line with costs, requirements and processes.

  • Managing the MOT testing & compliance facility to required standards. Regularly reviewing work methods to deliver an effective service and maintain stock levels.

  • Providing technical support and maintaining an excellent working knowledge of vehicles, plant and other equipment, including changes and updates with regards to maintenance requirements and compliance with legislation.

  • You will be responsible for the evaluation of breakdowns, road calls, vehicle recovery and call out arrangements, ensuring 24/7 cover.

  • Managing the fleet operations, schedules, maintenance, repairs and servicing, undertaking reviews, complying with the Operator Licence requirements.

  • Ensuring all fleet documentation is always up to date, completed on time, and is entered accurately into the system.

  • Making sure that calibrations and examinations are undertaken as required under legislation and manufacturer's guidance.

  • Managing the security of the workshop and equipment as well as facilities.

  • You will be responsible for the evaluation and authorisation of work to appropriate standards and to process invoices within budget.

  • Supporting all the accredited standards and green credentials and ensuring the company is compliant with all statutory provision by working with SHEQ and HR.

  • Providing leadership and direction by your line management responsibility for all fleet workshop employees.

  • Delivering brilliant customer care and service levels to all customers.

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience of managing fleet workshop services and experience of budget management as well as use of a Vehicle Management System (Tranman is desired).

  • Be an Authorised Examiner (MOT Management) and have Operator Licence awareness training, Motor Vehicle Technology (Heavy) City and Guilds (Part 2 and 3 or equivalent) (NVQ Level 3), a Management qualification and as a Safety-first organisation you'll have a Health and Safety qualification (for example: IOSH).

  • The ability to manage and deliver results in a partnership environment

  • Be able to work in partnership with our Business Development Team to support business growth

  • Ensure that operational delivery of the service meets the requirements of the SLA

  • Certificate of Professional Competence in National Road & Passenger Transport Operations is desired, but this is not essential.
