Yard Operative

We are currently recruiting for a Yard Operative to join a successful family run business, who supply building materials to the construction industries. Working in a busy team, you will be responsible for lifting and moving heavy stock around the yard.

Job Specification:-

• Prepare orders


• Lifting, packing and crating of materials


• Loading and off loading lorries


• Dealing with customers in the yard.


• General yard duties


• Adhering to Health and Safety regulations

Person Specification:-

Due to the nature of the role and the amount of heavy lifting involved, our client requires someone who has worked in a similar role previously with manual handling experience. You will also have good numeracy and literacy skills, as well as Fork Lift Truck and Loading Shovel licenses (this would be an advantage, however training will be given) Experience in a builders merchants is preferred, but again, is not essential.

Hours are Monday to Friday either 8am to 5 pm or 7 am to 4pm, with half an hour lunch. Due to the location of the depot, a car driver is preferred unless you live in close proximity of Purfleet.

Starting Salary - £21k plus benefits
